AdGooroo recently released their paid search advertising report for Q2. The study was conducted on Google’s text ad activity across 14 industry categories and measures the 6 major paid search metrics namely CPC, CTR, clicks, impressions, spend and no. of advertisers.

Here’s a look at the key highlights from the report:

  • Paid search spend, across the 14 categories studied, increased by 4% in Q2, whereas the impressions and clicks dropped. The average CTR and and CPR increased by 18% and 8% respectively.
  • The spend and clicks increased the most for Hotels & Resorts category at 56% and 60% respectively, while the same metrics decreased to the lowest for Shoes category at -7% spend and -23% clicks.
  • The Flowers & Gift and Shoes category experienced the maximum decrease in number of advertisers at -18% as the overall category observed a drop in it at 12%
  • The overall cost-per-click increased by 8%, with Hotels & Resorts witnessing a decrease in CPC by 2% owing to a positive click through rate. The other categories, on the other hand, witnessed an increase in CPC, the highest being for Beauty & Cosmetics and Consumer Electronics categories.
  • The impressions across dropped by 19%, with only Hotels & Resorts and Flowers & Gifts experiencing an increase in impressions at 4% and  7%.

The data shared in this report was conducted on the top 50,000 keywords in each of the 14 categories.
