Greetings readers! PPCChat discussion on Twitter is a popular one and mainly focuses on the changes and concerns related to PPC industry. This week’s session was hosted by Julie F Bacchini who sought views on the value gained out of PPCChat discussions, any thoughts or feedback about PPCChat and its future and more.

Q1: How do you participate in PPC Chat most frequently:

  • A. Tuesday Twitter chats
  • B. Thursday audio chats
  • C. Via Twitter throughout the week
  • D. On another PPC Chat Channel
  • E. Lurking

A – always whilst at the gym. @marketingsoph

Definitely A, Tuesday Twitter chats. @gilgildner

A and E, and both are very sporadic and inconsistent. @dan_patterson

For me, the most common are A and E. @DianaAlinaAldea

Obviously, I do all except lurking. @NeptuneMoon

A and C! Try to listen to Thursday audio chats when possible too. @adclarke10

C and E. @PPCKirk

Most freq= Tuesday Twitter Chats 2. Occasional Audio, when time allows 3. Twitter through week 4. I check Discord and Slack when I can 5. fwiw, I’m not doing Clubhouse.@JuliaVyse

A, B- infrequently and C. @TheMarketingAnu

A mostly, sometimes B, and pretty infrequently with C. @lchasse

I’m A and B as much as I can. It’s nice to create space in my week to hang out and step away from work but talk about what’s going on in our space. @duanebrown

A, B – forgetting the rules already lol. @runnerkik

A, C & E lol. I try to attend every Tuesday morning but it’s been a little tough as of late. I’m hoping that’ll improve soon! @adwordsgirl

A and C mostly! I have gotten some great insights from this community as well as troubleshooting wisdom! @AllyQuilty_MKTG

Twitter – I have never been able to get the audio version to work for me. I’m pretty excited about the discord group even though I’m just a lurker there. P.S. Sorry I’m late! @navahf

A and C mainly. @robert_brady

A. Tuesday chats on Twitter @C_J_Ridley

Q2: What is the biggest value you get out of PPC Chat currently?

When I actually participate I do find some interesting insights from others in the industry. It’s something I’ve enjoyed over the years, just need to get it back into my schedule. Lots of value here. @dan_patterson

Meeting people! Met more than a few of these fine folks in real life at conferences etc.@gilgildner

For me the biggest joy is connecting with other PPCers, sharing stuff & ranting together. I feel great being part of this community. @DianaAlinaAldea

The people I have met honestly. Ended up making some friends who I would never have spoken to or met IRL probably. Even this old dog learns something new once and a while also, which is great. @lchasse

Interacting with all of you lovely people! And the knowledge that is shared in all the places PPC Chat is, is absolutely my favourite. @NeptuneMoon

I like to hear different perspectives on how we approach certain things. And this community is so welcoming and willing to help each other, I’ve kept coming back over the years. @JuliaVyse

The feeling of team spirit, news and the latest platform announcements, getting to talk about shared experiences and of course the memes. @marketingsoph

Networking, getting questions answered. @PPCKirk

People and ideas. Good signal to noise ratio most weeks. Always someone with other POV. @duanebrown

The people make the community, truly getting to know others who laugh at PPC jokes, the learning, the contacts, and the team spirit of all trying to navigate this platform together. @runnerkik

Seeing what pain points other folks are having and which solutions we’re all trying in our respective brands. It’s also useful to see which topics spark a lively discussion vs the pensive comments of a few. @navahf

1. Meeting my peers. I got the opportunity to meet some people a few weeks ago and it was lovely. 2. I never want to be the smartest person in the room and I am definitely not here. I learn so much!@adwordsgirl

There aren’t enough characters. – latest going ons in the paid search world. – Seeing people’s frustrations similar to mine – I am not alone! – experts who have become friends and my biggest supporters of @ppcliveuk @TheMarketingAnu

Contributors to the @ppcliveuk blog – I have believed I can achieve great things because of this community – no other community challenges the big platforms like we do That’s my top 6, but there’s plenty more!!! @TheMarketingAnu

This community is so helpful when it comes to staying up to date with all the changes inherent in the work we do. My business partners hear “I saw xyz on PPC Twitter” almost daily! @AllyQuilty_MKTG

The community & everyone’s willingness to help with a problem, share their experiences, etc. Also a great resource when big news drops or we see something funky in an account. @adclarke10

A group of friends who understand my pains in the PPC world. And lots of really good help when I have a problem (even if it’s only confirmation it isn’t just me). And a fantastic network. @robert_brady

Q3: Have you joined any of our other channels (Slack, Discord and/or LinkedIn Group)? If so, why and which one(s)? And if not, why not?

Yes, but I don’t really use those channels. Discord feels weird for professional work, I dislike Slack in general, and I stopped paying attention to LI a long time ago. Twitter feels open and accessible to more lurkers, too. @gilgildner

I’m on all of them but Discord because I don’t use it! @marketingsoph

Discord! I was able to talk and listen! lol. @NeptuneMoon knows why that is a big deal. I am always working at my desk and keep my phone off to focus. I really like Discord as a platform. So many features and options (if it is widely adopted anyway). @lchasse

Yes all of them – only really participate in Slack. I find Discord a bit much. Never been a fan of LinkedIn grps. @TheMarketingAnu

Yes, all of the above. @adclarke10

Yes! I’ve joined all of them I think, but I haven’t built the habit of opening them all because otherwise I wouldn’t get any work done. I like Discord for conversation, and LinkedIn as I’m on that a lot already. @JuliaVyse

I am in everything but slack group and it all comes down to slack overload. I use Discord more actively so it’s easier for me to make time for. Very grateful to you for supporting us in our various ways we want to connect. @navahf

Cont: I don’t use LinkedIn very much like a lot of folks do. I keep that mostly just a place for professional contacts with folks I have worked with the in the past or currently. I have time for maybe 2-3 platforms and that is it. @lchasse

I am in the LinkedIn Group but haven’t joined Slack or Discord. It sounds like those are more active, I’ll need to check those out this week! @AllyQuilty_MKTG

I have joined Slack and Discord but don’t really pay attention to Discord anymore (too many apps). I prefer Slack because that’s the platform we used to communicate internally so I’m already on it consistently. @adwordsgirl

I’ve joined Slack but admit I rarely use it. I wasn’t aware of Discord, and like others, I don’t really use LI much for anything. @dan_patterson

I have joined all, I find Slack hard to follow at times but use that, and Discord, but my muscle memory is trained to open Twitter. @runnerkik

Slack and I think the LinkedIn group. I don’t love Discord for community groups as it’s all on mobile, which makes it hard to see chats beyond what’s on your small screen. Moves way faster than a Slack group. Feels like the worst aspects of Slack on a mobile device. @duanebrown

Yes, I joined Slack but am not active there. I never open Discord other than playing around with Midjourney and did not know there was a LI group. @ppcnitish

As a spoiled Holdco brat, please know how hard it was for me to avoid asking for Teams. @JuliaVyse

I’m in Slack infrequently. I think I joined the LI group but I’m not very active on LI. Haven’t tried Discord yet. I also check out Duane’s PPC Reddit as well. @robert_brady

Nothing yet I don’t think? There are so many communities and so many platforms – it’s so hard to keep track. @revaminkoff

I’m a member of Discord and Slack iirc. Not sure about LinkedIn I also follow @NeptuneMoon on Threads. @C_J_Ridley

Why? Same reasons as what I value the most from this community Knowledge and experience sharing. @C_J_Ridley

Q4: Is there anything that you want from PPC Chat that you are currently not getting or would like to see added or happen in the future?

For me it’s great how it is now, I don’t feel the need for anything extra. @DianaAlinaAldea

Honestly, #PPCChat has been the single most interactive & inclusive community for PPC on the internet. Very accessible for those who aren’t already in the “in crowd”. I wouldn’t change what’s not broken in terms of what it offers… @gilgildner

Having helped start and run a Twitter chat myself in the past (SEOchat) I fully understand how much work it takes to put this on every week. Really impressed that you’ve kept it going this long and I hope it continues since it is definitely a valuable resource. @dan_patterson

I can’t think of anything that needs adding! It’s already covering a ton of stuff and platforms. @marketingsoph

You do an amazing job. The only thing I can think of is more variety of topics and maybe some that specifically focus on positive things. We tend to complain a lot and a few more moments of celebration might be nice. @navahf

I feel like it is great, I hope it is something we can maintain, but holding on to the past prevents growth in the future, so I will follow the people where #ppcchat goes and support it. @runnerkik

I wish we could all meet in person for lunch and a chat. @duanebrown

Pretty much what everyone has said so far – what more could we ask for?? @TheMarketingAnu

Absolutely nothing. @adwordsgirl

No – it’s really been great. @revaminkoff

Nothing more is needed, we’re enough. But I would love to meet more of y’all in person. @JuliaVyse

It’s the biggest and most inclusive community I have come across for PPC The only thing I’d suggest is maybe a scheduled meet-up in each country/region that we have enough members in. It would be great to arrange a UK meetup for UK/European members. @C_J_Ridley

Q5: Do you currently belong to or participate in any other PPC-focused communities?

I don’t currently, but I just joined Reddit so maybe I will. Is the thought to move away from Twitter entirely, because I would definitely support that @dan_patterson

Not really, but inside my org there are a few groups. @JuliaVyse

Yes, I lurk a lot in Ed Leake’s Forge. It’s probably one of the best for agency owners & consultants/freelancers in terms of business advice and financial acumen (not affiliated, I just really like it) @gilgildner

I do. It’s a Slack group that you have to get invited to. They do a weekly call (with one week off) where we have someone from the community present a topic and then we ask Qs and discuss! @adwordsgirl

I am a moderator and contributor for the Foxwell Founders PPC community. Also, have the PSA Slack and the Marketing O’Clock Discord. Been checking out the r/ppc Reddit lately too. @NeptuneMoon

Women in PPC and the @PaidSearchOrg Slack groups. Also in a few different LinkedIn groups, but aren’t too active on those at the moment. @marketingsoph

@PaidSearchOrg @andrewfoxwell‘s PPC Founder’s Club @jimbanks‘EMB group @techseowomen I’ll shamelessly plug @Optmyzr‘s Super Optmyzr group (FB messenger chat and group) which started as just for customer, but we opened it up. @navahf

I’m in the PSA Slack and the Paid Search Reddit Group. I’m also in a private Slack with some other PPC professionals that’s been really helpful over the years. @revaminkoff

Urrmmm… shameless plug –@ppcliveuk Not that I haven’t already.

Also getting into Duane’s PPC Reddit community as well. As well as @PaidSearchOrg and the Women’s In PPC Slack group (https://join.slack.com/t/women-in-ppc/shared_invite/zt-8pfv709d vp4qaX3A~eizAD2XRjx3yA…) @TheMarketingAnu

#ppcchat slack and @PaidSearchOrg slack. Definitely most active here on Twitter. @beyondthepaid

A couple of spots I’m in most days beyond here. 1. PPC Reddit & our Slack group: http://reddit.com/r/PPC 2. Foxwell Founders Slack: https://foxwellfoundersppc.podia.com/founders-ppc/hswbf… @duanebrown

Paid Search Association and Marketing o’clock discord, might be in some inactive FB groups as well, and frequently on LinkedIn in a slightly less meme way than Twitter, and in feed vs in groups. @runnerkik

I have been part of PPC Club 83 the longest, @EdLeake Forge and Foxwell Founders PPC.@ppcnitish

Also in Woman in PPC #ppcchat on Slack as well. @runnerkik

Recently my activity has dwindled due to work and personal life commitments but I’m relatively active on: @MarketingOClock‘s Discord Server I also contribute to @ppcliveuk‘s private WhatsApp group and @PaidSearchOrg‘s Slack. @C_J_Ridley

Q6: Any other feedback or thoughts or ideas you’d like to share about PPC Chat and its future?

Not really. Congrats on running this ragtag group for so long Julie! I remember when it was us and Matt and you stepped forward. I’m so deeply impressed by what you’ve accomplished with consistent, joyful work. @JuliaVyse

I’d love for it to continue to be so lively no matter the platform it will be on. #PPCChat Thank you, PPC mama for facilitating this for us. @DianaAlinaAldea

I honestly think Twitter is going to continue to be a great place for communities like #ppcchat! I’d think a migration anywhere else would be pretty risky, given the community that has lasted here for so many years! @gilgildner

Let’s keep on keeping on and not let the venue dictate our future. We have so much positive, a group of people and that is enough IMHO @runnerkik

I think you do an absolutely fantastic job and that the PPC community are really lucky to have you! Thank you for all the hard work you put in. @marketingsoph

I agree about the concerns should TweetDeck go paid only, but I hope an accessible solution will continue to exist. You can’t really “chat” on Clubhouse, What’s App, LinkedIn or Facebook like you can here. @revaminkoff
